Day 2. We were slow to get up and walked to the Plaza Grande. No question that we both can feel the altitude ...........or is it our age? We took a city tour bus to get oriented and then visited some of the local historical museums in Old Town. One of the stops was high on mountain ridge that overlooks Old Town Quito. On the ridge the have erected a gigantic statue of Mary looking over the city protecting it. Virginia de El Parecilla. They are is prone to earthquakes and volcano eruptions so it can't hurt. After the tour we visited many of the sites in Old Town.
